Allbro Combiner Boxes
Allbro is a South African manufacturing company based in Johannesburg. We were founded in 1978 and have been manufacturing products for the electrical industry since then, starting with insulators and transformer accessories (bushings, tap switches) and became specialists in non-metalic electric enclosures using plastics and GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) materials. In 2011 Allbro took over ABB's (York) enclosures business.
We are now the largest non-metallic electric enclosure manufacturer in Africa.
GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) - SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound)
Photovoltaic projects demand structural materials that are light weight, strong and versatile for their Combiner Boxes. Materials that resist corrosion and temperature extremes and which deliver freedom of design and low system costs. The ideal solution is a family of structural, fibre reinforced thermosets: SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) and DMC (Dough Moulding Compound). These materials combine mechanical and physical properties with the lowest cost, without compromising quality.
Exceptional electrical and UV properties make SMC the material of choice for Photovoltaic Combiner Boxes.
We have chosen to use SMC as the material of choice for our Allbrox range as it offers 3-5 times more mechanical strength than DMC.
Using our production line and strong links with suppliers, we have supplied fully populated Combiner Boxes to our clients.
